Stala Firewood Rack products enable firewood storage outside as well as inside and transportation particularly in small houses and at cottage. The products are designed for homes where firewood is actively used and stored. Product design is done in cooperation with Pentagon Design. The product family includes a storage rack for outdoor use with weatherproof season cover, a handy carrying rack and a bigger storing rack for indoor use. The products make firewood a part of the interior décor and racks function as interior elements themselves.

The designing was made according to the normal concept creating phase. In the beginning we considered a variety of structure and material options that met our standards for durability and functionality. In addition to stylish design, we also wanted to pay attention to producibility and general costs.

The design process started from surveys and usability observations and continued to drafts and to creating the visuality for the product. The more accurate planning and different options for visuality, by using 3D programs, came after the hand-made sketches. Gradually we chose the best one from all the options together with the client. That one option we chose was to be progressed and at the same time we had to take into consideration e.g. different kind of users. There was no compromising the design, even though we had to finish all the details to be ready for the production process. The manufacturer produced the protypes about the structure options, and from those options we got to choose the one that's best when it comes to structure, funtionality and design.

The feedback we've got has been very positive from both customers and retail chains. The products were well received and the sales started well, too. Each project is a chance to learn something new from all the phases of the project.
